STAFF TACKLE THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE
July 16th, 2015
Nineteen staff and friends of Mowbray School have completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge raising almost £2,000 toward the purchase of an all-terrain wheelchair for pupils.
Led by our outdoor education specialist Paul Chapman and teacher Amy Foulerton, the group started out from the foot of 691 metre high Pen-y-ghent at 6.45am in mist, drizzle and rain to complete the 26 mile Challenge in a highly creditable if gruelling 13 hours.
Fortunately, the group were protected by high visibility shirts kindly sponsored by Design & Stitch, Scotton Embroidery and kept fed and watered by a support team in the school mini bus manned by Mark Hardy.
Special thanks must go to ultra-fit Paul Chapman and Amy Foulerton who arranged the challenge and calmly motivated us all throughout and to Black Sheep Brewery for the donation of a stock of bar towels for ‘drying off’ as well as a very welcome case of beer to crack open at the end.
