MOWBARY SCHOOL ACHIEVES YOUTH SPORT TRUST GOLD QUALITY MARK
January 19th, 2017
Mowbray School has been awarded the Youth Sport Trust GOLD Quality Mark for its commitment to physical education (PE) and school sport. The Youth Sport Trust is a national charity that is building a brighter future for young people through the power of sport.
The Quality Mark is an online self-review tool which provides schools with a nationally recognised award for the quality of their PE and school sport. The tool supports schools to audit their PE provision and identify priorities for their development.
Lisa Yates from Youth Sport Trust validated the nationally recognised award for the quality of their PE and school sport. Lisa stated “I am delighted to confirm that you have been validated as a Gold Quality Mark School. The enthusiasm and commitment of your staff is clearly a strength in PE along with the range of opportunities offered in the curriculum; links with outside providers; use of ICT to support assessment and a commitment to develop wider aspects of health & wellbeing.”
Fran Nichol, PE teacher at Mowbray said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the GOLD Quality Mark from the Youth Sport Trust, which recognises our commitment to delivering the best possible sporting experiences for the young people at our school.
“Mowbray School is now one of three schools in North Yorkshire to achieve the quality mark and one of 21 special schools nationally, we are proud to be leading the way in providing high quality PE and school sport for children with learning and physical disabilities.”
“My aim as a physical educator is to inspire our pupils to have a lifelong participation in sport and physical activity by making PE lessons exciting, varied and child centred, as a school we are constantly looking for new activities which motivate our pupils.”
